The steering nozzle — the component that directs a jet ski's thrust to steer it — had cracked and was no longer usable. The only replacement was a complete factory assembly running $350–700 depending on condition, so instead I reverse engineered it: the original was 3D scanned and rebuilt as a clean, parametric CAD model.

The replacement was printed in PA12-CF10, a carbon-fiber-reinforced nylon chosen for its stiffness, strength, and durability in a wet, high-vibration environment. It has more than proven itself since: the nozzle has shrugged off real abuse and kept the ski running strong through many hours out on the lake.
